Accessing and Managing your Tribe Social Account

Tribe Social is a secure, invitation-only, private activity stream, where employees can share ideas, files, links, photos and videos in an environment that works just like the other major social media tools. The difference is that Intellum’s Tribe Social removes the distraction and security issues that occur when you try to use consumer-facing tools for business.

The top-level role is the Organization Owner. There can be more than one Organization Owner. This person can oversee and manage multiple Tribes that are tied to the Organization (to manage the Tribes within the Organization, click on your name in the upper right corner and then click on Organization).
The middle tier is the Tribe Owner. There can be more than one Tribe Owner. Tribe Owners oversee and manage any Tribe they are the owner of, but cannot make changes on the Organizational level.
The bottom tier (and most common user role) is the Tribe Member. Of the three user authorities, a Tribe Member has the least amount of privileges. Typically the majority of your user population will have the Tribe Member authority. Tribe members will create posts, add comments to posts, BUMP posts and share images and links, although all Tribe users roles have these capabilities.
If your Organization is not using Intellum’s LMS (i.e. your Tribe Account was created directly on tribesocial.com), users are invited to join a Tribe by email. The image below shows the steps for obtaining the invite link.

When creating a new Tribe, there is a check box that allows you to link the Tribe to your Organization. Check this box if you want the Tribe to be under the umbrella of the Organization and leave it unchecked if starting a Tribe for personal use or outside of the Organization.
Managing and Syncing Users Through Exceed
If your Organization is using Intellum’s LMS and the account is using Groupdock for single sign on (SSO), any user that logs into Exceed will see the launcher bar at the top and will be able to quickly switch between the LMS and Tribe.
Users in the LMS can be marked for syncing. If users are marked for syncing, they will auto-populate into Tribe within about one hour of being entered into the LMS.
Currently, your Account Manager will need to be notified to check the sync settings of an account.
Syncing LMS Groups to Tribe
Individual LMS groups OR multiple LMS groups can be mapped to a Tribe.
Below are steps to create a group in the LMS and map the group to a Tribe.

In Tribe, go to PROPERTIES and scroll toward the bottom to the EXCEED GROUPS section.

Getting to Tribe
If a user is a Tribe member they can use the login credentials provided by their Administrator.
If the user received an invite link, they will need to create a profile:

Navigating Between Tribes
To navigate between Tribes, select the dropdown menu next to My Tribes to see all of the Tribes you are a member of.
Posting, Comments, Mentions & Hashtags
Create a Post by typing into the field labeled Drop some knowledge.
Upload a file to go with your comment or simply type and click the Tribe It button. Posts are time and date stamped and instantly shared with all Tribe members. Image, audio, video and document files are supported.
Add a comment to any post or click BUMP to indicate you like a post. Bumping also pushes a post to the top of the stream.
Add the “@” symbol to the front of another Tribe member’s name to tag or mention them. Use hashtags to link posts and comments.

Selecting the magnifying glass in the top, right corner of your Tribe page will open the search box. Here, you can search hashtags, posts by members of your and other key words!
If a Tribe User notices an activity or comment on a post that may be inappropriate, they can flag it.
Media, Members and the Sidebar
The Media page displays a collection of images and media that has been shared to the Tribe. This page helps a member quickly see what media has been shared without having to scroll through comments.
The Members Page displays the current Tribe Members.
The Side Bar contains a few important and helpful options.
Creating Tribe Lists
Click on your name in the top right and then on Profile.
Scroll down to the bottom and click on Create A New List.
Enter a name for the list and select Tribes for the list.

Using Tribe with the LMS
If you’re using the LMS to manage your Tribe population, you’ll be able to sync Groups, Courses and Users directly from the LMS.
A Tribe Owner will see four sections along the top.
Tribe Owner Properties
As a Tribe Owner, the GENERAL section displays Tribe-level options.

This page displays the current members for the Tribe.
Tribe Owner Media Page
This page displays media that has been shared in the Tribe.
Tribe Owner Analytics
These are the analytics for the Tribe currently being viewed.
A Tribe Owner can filter the timeline of the Analytics page.
Tribe Owner Activities Page
Enjoy using the Activities page the same way as an End User, however there are some features that a Tribe Owner will have beyond what is available to an End User.
Hover over a post to delete it.
While hovering, Pin can also be clicked. Pinning a post brings it to the top of the activity stream until it is unpinned.
Hover over any pinned post to Unpin.
NOTE: If the activity is your post, Edit will display instead of Delete. When Edit is clicked, you will see options to Edit, Save, Delete or Cancel.
Tribe Owner Flagged Page
Because each activity is transparent, meaning everyone who sees an activity can also see who posted the activity, it isn't common that a user will post something inappropriate. The Flagged page is your insurance for managing both activities and comments that have been flagged. When in the Flagged page you will see an area for flagged activities and for flagged comments. This feature allows you to isolate these potentially inappropriate items, go straight to them and decide if they should be removed from the Tribe Activities feed.
Tribe Social Admin Experience:
Tribe Organization Owner
The top-level authority in Tribe is the Organization Owner. To manage the Tribes within the Organization, click on your name in the upper right corner and then click on Organization.
On the Organization page there are four sections.
NOTE: Unlike similarly named sections in the Tribe Owner Experience above, the four sections on the Organization page display information for all Tribes within the Organization.
Tribe Organization Settings
The top of the Organization Properties page is where the Tribe Login URL can be seen.
The cover photo uploaded here will be the default cover photo when a user has “All Tribes” selected.
The GENERAL section of the Tribe Organization Settings provides several important fields.
- Name: This displays the Tribe name and that will appear in the "My Tribes" list located toward the top center.
- Subdomain: This is an identifier at the end of the login URL (see highlighted area below)
- Google Analytics: Place your Google Analytics ID here to push data into your Google Analytics account.
- Bookmarklet Text: Text here dictates the text on the Bookmarklet button.
- Login page (HTML): Enter HTML for Tribe login page.
- Sticky Note: Text here will display at the top of all Tribes Activity pages and List activities pages.
- Disclaimer: Text entered here will display at the bottom of the side bar of the Activities page.
At the bottom of the page, the Organizational Owners are listed along with a link to add additional owners.

Displays all TRIBES within the Organization
Tribe Organization Members Page
The members displayed here are members within all Tribes within the Organization.
Tribe Organization Analytics Page
Organization Analytics defaults to Visits per User. There are powerful options in the top right such as the Analytics Type and the Timeline for the analytics.
If viewing the Properties page of a certain Tribe, at the bottom will be a link to delete the Tribe.

Our website has a responsive design that conforms to the screen size of mobile devices. If available on the user’s platform, the mobile version of Google Chrome is recommended.
